Where to you store your great ideas? Do you tear out magazine articles and store them in a big binder? Do you jot down book recommendations and restaurants to try on Post-Its? Or do you just keep in all on file in your head?
Last week, I was perusing a fun paper arts store and admired a sample altered Rolodex file. I decided that I must make one of my own. I had to have one. Instead of paying the store .30 each die cut pass to make my framework, I went on a hunt for my own method of die cutting the custom Rolodex cards to suit my style. Several trips to JoAnns, Staples, Office Depot, a new Big Kick, Thick Cuts die AND the elusive 3"x5" rotary Rolodex file later: here is my creation:

My initial idea was to make a reminder file. Something that would help me to remember to send birthday cards and change my furnace filter on time. Then I talked to Korie, and she said she was making a Do It/ Done It File. Something along the lines of "Life's Little To Do List" broken up into easy to navigate categories. I loved that idea.
Mine is a place I can jot down ideas for everything from seasonal day trips and recipes to try to family traditons and scrapbook pages I want to make. I intend to fill it up with recommendations and all kinds of notes on things I want to do. And then we'll get out there and do them!
I had a blast making it. I stayed up late on Saturday night with a glass of pinot noir, listening to the audiobook of Eat, Pray, Love and went to work. It was the perfect soundtrack for dwelling in possibility.
More photos of this project can be seen here.
Love your altered rolodex! It's amazing!

Terri
