My son is away at Scout camp this week. Seven days in the great outdoors sleeping in a tent, trying to earn as many merit badges as he can.
Todd drove up with the boys and went to check out the camp and make sure everything was A-OK before leaving our second born child in the wildness of southern California for a week. Father and son spent the better part of the previous two week going over the extensive list of supplies and getting J all geared up. The kid's backpack weighed more than he did by the time he left home! The list prohibits any electronics: no cell phone, no DS, no iPod, no technology. These boys are going old school for a week!
Another Scout Mom didn't want to see the boys blow all of their spending money on junk food at the little trading post, so she thoughtfully packed a 'bucket of junk' (food). Last night we received an email update from the Scoutmaster (cheater!) just letting us know that the boys are fine, told us what they have been doing, and that they have nicknamed the junkfood bucket the "diabetic bucket".
J signed up for the gun range, archery, wood carving, lifesaving and more. We know he will have a fantastic time and make memories for a lifetime. He is committed to earning his Eagle Scout Rank. We are here to support him every step of the way.
Yea for J! Love seeing an Eagle Scout in the making.
